Reds Racing Tips 04-12

Morning all,

Not the best of days yesterday, mainly due to a hopeless effort at Kempton making a loss of 11 points for that meeting and leaves the score at -15 overall for the day. It seemed like everytime I'd gone with a recent winner under penalty, they faltered and if I opposed them, they bolted up. Oh well, you can't get them all right. At least the NAP won convincingly, so that's a small blessing.

Today sees tracker horse Clondaw Cian running over at Sandown as he takes a big step up into a Grade 2.  First noted him when he came second in a bumper to Copper Kay at Newton Abbot, who has since won at Cheltenham. I then put him up to beat the well fancied William H Bonny at Fontwell in a good bumper and he slugged through the mud to win that. After that he romped home on his hurdles debut at the same venue. He loves soft ground and it looks like the hurdles track at Sandown will turn up soft today. Francis of Assisi drops down into this race and is a good horse, but not likely to enjoy the ground. The same could be said for Roadie Joe. He was 10/3 last night, but has drifted out to 4/1 with some firms and at that price, he should be a great bet.

The NB for today comes from Exeter and I've gone with the progressive Otago Trail in the 1.10. Venetia Williams has her yard in top form and her horses always like the dig in the ground. It's not a bad race, with recent winner Rouge et Blanc (one I tipped LTO) and Mon Successeur also in the mix. But I think the selection can defy top weight here and make the most of the conditions to record a win.
