bit of a blogging absence lately and I apologise for that. Hoping to pick it up a bit over the next few weeks with a couple of selections here and there and proper blog posts. Stay tuned for that.
I've got one for today that I really like, running at Cartmel in the last race of their card at 5.25. Claude Carter is getting on a bit at 12, but ran a decent enough race last time out to finish fourth at Perth over two miles and four furlongs (A race I tipped 3rd placed Tantamount in). He made most of the running in that race until fading in the last half mile and steps back down in trip today to 2m1f. All of his five wins have come over this distance or less, although the last one of those was back in January 2015. He does have to shoulder joint top weight here off a mark of 100, but the jockey claims seven and he is two pounds below his last winning mark. He might not get as easy a lead as he did at Perth last time out, with the likes of Morning With Ivan and Nicki's Nipper also likely to race prominently, but if he does, then he could go well enough to run a bigger race than the 16/1 currently available.
