Reds Racing Tips 31-08

Morning all,

a great return yesterday for the blog as we kicked off with a 20/1 winner at Goodwood. The two write-ups didn't fare so well at Worcester, both of them being pulled up, but it was still a very healthy 29 points profit returned on a stake of 20. Southwell and Newton Abbot today over jumps, as well as Bath, Lingfield and Carlisle on the flat and Gowran Park over in Ireland.

No great fields at Southwell, but it could be a good day for Brian Hughes. He's got three rides, but it's the two in the 3.20 and 3.50 that should give him the best chance of winning. The 3.20, he rides the favourite Perfect Summer and although very much respected, at the prices, I've gone for Cusheen Bridge at 11/1. He's got some decent hurdles form in the book, including over C&D and he should enjoy coming back to them after falling over fences last time out. In the 3.50, I have gone with the Hughes mount in Doitforjoe. David Dennis' six year old has shown some pretty useful form so far and this looks like a winnable race.

That leaves me with an old favourite over at Newton Abbot, Houston Dynimo for David Pipe and Tom Scudamore. He hasn't hit the form he's showed last year, but his handicap mark continues to tumble and he's now a full twenty lbs lower than his last winning mark. If he decided that today is a going day, he could be very well in of 102.

It's a shame that Ernststavroblofeld looks like a non-runner in the 2.00 at Bath, because he looked an exciting prospect on debut. Nuclear Power is now the hot favourite, but it might be worth chancing Swell Hill. She made a reasonable debut in April, although has been off since then. A repeat of that run should she her go close. Over in Ireland, useful hurdler Rashaan is 2/1 to win over 1m6 on the flat and I'd say he's got a very good chance of doing just that. He's the class act in the race and should be winning this.

Reds Racing Tips 30-08

Hi all,

Time to get back into the swing of things with a daily blog with selections. Not going to do every card while I get back into it, but will try to get back on track with all of that.

We start at Worcester, where I think Horace Hazel is a tad overpriced at 7/1 in the 4.25. He's not so far off the front two in the market in terms of form, but could provide a bit of value. It's not a selection without risk, as he didn't jump all that fluently last time out, but if those mistakes have been ironed out over a 69-day lay-off, then he should at least give the front two something to think about. He's hit the frame in eight of his twelve starts in these conditions, winning four of those and was a winner over C&D last time out.

In the 5.30, it might be worth chancing Sonar de Sivola at 12/1. Realistically it should be between the first two in the market, Invocation and Cliffs of Dover, but Nick Williams' charge is from a useful NH family and with Lizzie Kelly on board claiming five, he could well outrun odds of 12/1.

Elsewhere, there's a couple of interest at Goodwood. In the opener there, I'm happy to chance Desert Water at a big price. Sepoy's two-year old's have been running pretty well on debut this year and this is an interesting newcomer for Richard Hannon. In the 3.35 there, I'm going to take a chance on the two Johnston runners against the field, Camargue & Sea of Snow. Both are better than what they've shown last time out, should enjoy the ground and MJ likes to target races at Goodwood.
