Reds Racing Tips 20-11

Morning All, 

Bit of a mixed bag yesterday, but a four-timer at Wincanton and a few winners elsewhere kept us in decent shape. There was a few good performances out on track, but none more so than Sir des Champs. Having been off the track for over 600 days, he took his time to settle into a rhythm, but then showed an impressive boost of speed to reel in a deficit of fifteen or so lengths on the home straight, before settling back onto the bridle and cruise home. It was an impressive performance, from a good horse, but all this talk of a Gold Cup challenge is a bit premature. Yes, he ran well, but he didn't exactly beat a lot in this field. And you can't imagine him reeling in something like Coneygree or Vautour in that fashion. His next run out will be interesting to see though.

Today kicks off meetings, with both Ascot and Haydock staging races today and tomorrow. A preview for tomorrows races will appear on the blog later today and I'll look ahead to the Betfair Chase and the other races on the cards. For today though, there's no less than four of my tracker horses out on display. At Haydock, Doctor Phoenix has a tough task in a three runner field in the 1.20. All three have chances, but I think he can give a good account. In the 1.55, Welsh Shadow has benefitted from a couple of non-runners to make his task a bit easier and his second to Yanworth last time out, looks even better now. In the 2.30, Minella Rocco will make his chase debut. He looks the part, but he won't get it all his own way in another strong looking three-runner field. Finally at Ascot, Kilcrea Vale returns to action for Nicky Henderson and he should have no problems in this field.
