A decent day yesterday, although hard-hit by R4's. Quiet Reflection justified my pick in great style, but whether or not she'd have done the same thing against Limato, who knows. Either way, she was impressive and fully deserved her win. Cunco was outdone by his fellow Frankel and was still a bit keen for my liking. He might need bigger fields to settle more, but take nothing away from the winner Frankuus who ran a good race.
Over jumps, we scored a couple of winner,s including the NAP Gowanauthat. He wasn't especially fluent in his jumping, but a number of his rivals fell or unseated and he stayed on strongly to claim a seven length win. A nice little drift out to 5/1 meant we got top dollar returns for our stake.
Today's jumps card comes from Fontwell and with nothing of interest at York, all selections come from the South Coast venue. The NAP comes from the opener, where Kayf Willow should really be too strong for this company. She goes well fresh and claimed a couple of decent victories last season. She has the assistance of champion jockey Richard Johnson and he's three from five on this horse, placing on one other occasion. She does have to cope with top weight, but I still expect her to come out on top. The next best comes from the penultimate race on the card where I fancy the chances of AJ Honeyball's The Geegeez Geegee. He's shaped well over fences without making the frame, but has been running in better races than this. He's been given a little break and a five lbs relief from the handicapper and that, combined with better ground could well see him get off the mark over fences.
