Back from an enforced break due to illness, making me miss most of the weekend's action. So no review or look back to the day before today, but straight into today's action.
The NAP today runs at the only jumps meeting of the day at Carlisle where Alto Des Mottes should have a great chance. He's a progressive type who only narrowly missed out in a gruelling race at Catterick last time out. He won well before that at Newcastle and in getting six lbs from Warrantor, he should have a great chance with Bryan Hughes on board.
We stay at Carlisle for the Next Best in the 4.10. Abbey Storm hasn't been seen for a long time and makes his first start for Micky Hammond since leaving Donald McCain's yard. I've noted before how well Paul & Clare Rooney's runners seem to be doing on their first start for their new yards and if the trend holds true then the selection could well run a big race under Brian Harding.
Finally we go to Wolverhampton where I'm going to chance Judicial in the 4.20. A winner over C&D and still relatively unexposed, this four year old has got a couple of lengths to make up on Royal Birth, but comes here with a swing in the weights.
