Reds Racing Tips 18-02

Morning all,

First of all, gutting news about Faugheen with regards to the Champion Hurdle, but it does blow the race wide open. It seems to be a bad time for injuries at the moment, with the likes of Ar Mad and Killultagh Vic also ruled out of late. Let's hope that's it for the injury front and all the others get to the festival safe and sound.

On to yesterday's efforts then and once again, there was a small profit to be had. It was less than five points by the end of the day, but profit is profit and I'll take that. The NAP finished second to a horse I had anticipated as a non-runner (having run the previous day), so that was galling, but the NB was a winner at 9/2 to make up for that. Finally, the third best was denied a place by a head, having gone off at 14/1. 

For today, we have five meetings once again as the weather seems to relent, although Leicester is holding an inspection this morning, so keep that in mind. If Leicester does go ahead, the NAP will be Prideofthecastle. David Pipe's gelding won on chase debut at this track at the start of the month, being left well clear when his competitor fell, but he was cruising at that point and may well have more to come. David Noonan is excellent value for his five lbs and that gives him a massive advantage over his main rival Stiletto.

Carrigdhoun has been slipping down the weights of late and is getting to a decent mark for Maurice Barnes. Daragh Bourke takes another five off. He split a pair of subsequent winners when he was second at Newcastle and his only effort over this C&D was a winning one. He could well run a good race, despite carrying top weight.

Finally, we go to Chelmsford where My Target could well bounce back after a disappointing run last time out. The race wasn't run to suit that time and he was cramped for room in the finish. Adam Kirby takes the ride this time and although he's got some fierce competition on his plate, he's got an excellent draw and could well be overlooked in the betting.
