After yesterday's bumper card, today's fare is a little bit disappointing. At least we have got Douvan's first run over fences to look forward to, but at the offered odds, it's not one to back. Navan probably has the most interesting card, with a few other of Willie's potential stars getting a run around as well.
Yesterday was all about Cue Card. What a performance that was. He really does seem back to his best and as I predicted in the preview blog on Friday evening, his best was too good for Silviniaco Conti. Meanwhile over at Ascot, Vautour was less than impressive. He only narrowly managed to beat Ptit Zig, despite getting five pounds from his rival. But having said that, he looked very rusty and his jumping was nowhere near his slick JLT effort. Assuming he comes on for the run, he's still a Gold Cup contender. The question remains about his stamina, but Mullins has shown time and again that he gets the best out of his horses and he's not too bothered about the trip. The King George on Boxing Day will be very interesting though. Cue Card back to his best, Vautour, Don Cossack, perhaps Coneygree will run as well. And I wouldn't rule Conti out all together either. He's got past form and despite his loss on Saturday, he's still a very good horse.
Here's today's selections, good luck and let me know how you do
